The sharing economy is a core tenet of the circular economy, but faces technological barriers in its uptake. Actors, for example, may be unaware of the needs of other actors as well as opportunities for asset sharing. There is therefore a need for platforms that facilitate stable and open communication between actors. 

FLOOW2 provides solutions for companies, organisations and networks that wish to collaborate in some way, by renting, buying or selling equipment, services, skills and knowledge. The company has created a business-to-business digital sharing marketplace that allows companies to share what they already have, in a logical, user-friendly manner. The company has developed a number of different platforms in different industries—from construction to healthcare—and in different countries—from the Netherlands to Canada.

Participation in the platform reduces waste, decreases costs for companies and organisations, generates revenue and increases ROI. Users of FLOOW2 have collectively earned more than 87,000 euros, and have saved more than 94 million tonnes of CO2. 378,817 people have been connected through the platform. The organisation believes that a successful sharing economy must be based on collaboration, and to that end is open to international partnerships with other companies or entrepreneurs passionate about the circulatory economy: FLOOW2 provides the technology, sharing platform and experience, only expecting their partners to handle local/regional sales and business development.
